January of this year, Papemelroti received a special award as Ayala Center Marketing Parner for our continued support to all Ayala Center major and special events .

In the Jan-Feb issue of Candy magazine, our products were chosen to be featured for their Prom issue.  In February, we also won 2nd and 3rd prize for our Valentine’s day display, congratulations again to the staff of Megamall and SM City. (Note: These 2 branches won the awards but ALL the branches did very good work on this display too!)  In March, we opened a new experimental space in Isetann Recto.

This year we had a lot of new specially made-to-order products and we promoted this with a small advertisement in the 38th issue of Debutante and Bride magazine.

All throughout the year, we were always filled up with new products in all our branches! We came up with our usual line-up of new designs for paper products, decoupage, tokens and pillows, etc. but in an extra special way, we were blessed with many new practical, usable, and coordinated kitchen collectibles and figurines made from durable resin.

In April, our SM North EDSA branch got its long overdue renovation and it looked so much brighter with its light blue roof and white interiors.

In June, we joined the fast-rising world of e-malls! Papemelroti became one of the merchants of www.myAyala.com.

Papemelroti was also featured on the cover of Jobfinder Magazine (dubbed as the Philippines’ No. 1 Employment Ads Magazine).

True to one of our goals in supporting environment issues, we helped promote animal protection consciousness by participating in the Animal Lover of the Year 2000 Contest that same month - giving away prizes and becoming one of the distribution centers for the contestants.

Also in June, our very own Robert Alejandro appeared in the Philippine Post Lifestyle section, carrying our shop name. It was an article about his reporter stint in the Probe Team tv show. To quote, "So what else is known about Robert Alejandro? Aside from the fact that he is the "ro in the trendsetting Papemelroti, which continues to be popular among the young and the not-so-young." (Phil. Post, June 16, 2000)

July of this year, we saw a growing interest in our Papemelroti Website (www.papemelroti.com). We received more orders on the internet - we can see that we are slowly increasing our market base for our website!

It was not only a blessed year for the company but for Marina as well as she exchanged vows with Norme Boysillo last July 9!

The year was not without loss for us though as we recall with sadness the passing away of Susing from our Bulacan factory last July 8.

In August, we became one of the Rewards Plus members and we came out in the Philippine Star Business section signing the contract with Rewards Plus CEO Norman Jones. This new partnership is good for our customers since every time they buy from us, they get the chance to redeem gift prizes. We also get to appear on their advertisements and promos.

Also in August, we had a successful furniture sale which provided a lot more room in the stores for our stocks this Christmas!

Another good news that happenned during this time was that Ayala made major renovations near our Glorietta Branch - making it more visible from the entrance.

Despite our closing our Isetann Recto branch, on August 21, we opened a small kiosk in Robinson’s Place, Manila. This branch did very well during Christmas time.

Congratulations to Girlie who gave birth this year to a boy!

This October, the story of Papemelroti appeared in "Modern Home" a Hong Kong interior decorationmagazine. Several of our products were featured there.

Despite the present economic crisis, the rise in prices, we were able to significantly increase sales in 5 of our branches. We would like to congratulate the top earner for this Christmas, our Glorietta Branch headed by Carina for having an increase in their sales 10 out of 11 months, and for having the highest one-day sales ever (a new record!)

All year round we get many letters from our customers - mostly via e-mail. Here are some of them:
